In honor of the Transgender Day of Remembrance

Salon.com has posted a terrific story, “I always knew I was a girl.”

Please check it out. The author’s story is so consistent with the research literature it’s amazing.

Transgendered people experience the highest rates of violence (bullying, rape, beatings, homicide), the kids have the highest rates of homelessness of all US youth (and are especially in danger from their own families), and both the adults and kids experience high rates of suicide (unfortunately, NOT surprising given the extreme levels violence experienced).

Rev. Elena Kelly is an amazingly brave woman to embrace her truth. This country desperately needs more brave leaders and truth-livers like Rev. Kelly.
