And GSAs continue to grow

One of the most interesting and important developments involving the politics of US public schools in the last 20 years has been the rise and growth of Gay-Straight Alliances. While their origins are BEFORE the US Supreme Court decision in Westside v. Mergens (1990), it is this Supreme Court decision which unintentionally fueled their growth (More on this at a later date).

Anyway, the NY Times has a good story on the growth of GSAs in Utah–although they face some significant political and logistical hurdles (like requiring parental permission to join).

Please take a look.
