Well, that was fun

While we dodged the worst of Hurricane Sandy (unlike my beloved Long Beach Island, NJ), Central NJ did get clobbered with massive wind damage. We have some minor damage to our roof, but other places in our development had significant roof damage. Twelve hours of 80-90 mph will do that, as well as pull down a variety of trees. We also were without power from about 8 PM on Monday night until 9 PM last night. The first few days weren’t too bad, but as the temperature fell…..
BRRRRRRR!!!

I’m delighted to be back to the 21st century. Living in the 19th century has been a total drag. And Gov. Cuomo is right: We have a 19th century infrastructure that is getting CLOBBERED by 21st century climate change. We need to have a better response then,  “Well, weather events happen…”

More once I reconnect with the world. I hope you are yours remained safe, dry and warm these last few days…

  1. Glad you are back to near normalcy. I spent a couple months in 1973 in Asbury Park while doing some field work for a proposed nuclear power plant. It is very sad and troubling to see the damage. I know there are clapboard houses in that area that are from the late 1600’s. Best of luck on your new semester. Keep them honest, Catherine.

  2. Glad to see you back!
