A little cartoon that explains Value Added Models

Value Added Models have become quite the rage with educational reformers and policy makers (see Obama Administration). Although they are sold to the general public as “science,” they are closer to alchemy. Below is a dandy cartoon that maps out just how surreal the situation is for increasing numbers of public school teachers.
